David is genuine. I am inspired by his willingness to be vulnerable and open with people he encounters. This really shows his empathic personality and desire to be uplifting and inspiring. I'm glad I have been able to listen to a few talks of his.
David has had a remarkable range of life experiences that make him one of the most fascinating and insightful people I know. He has been a generous and meaningful mentor to me in business and life. His enthusiasm is contagious. If you engage with David in any capacity you'll come away better for having done so.
Dave is the kind of person that makes you want to be a better version of yourself. He's unbelievably passionate about the things that he works on and it really comes through in his speaking and really every interaction I've had with him over the time I've known him. He has experienced great success in his career, in his volunteer work, and his family life. Not everybody has the ability to lead life saving diving expeditions, teach stress inoculation courses to the military, build multi-million dollar business, or be national heavyweight champion in taekwondo. Dave has done it all and shows no signs of slowing down.
Dave Burnell speaks from the heart. You won’t find a more genuine, loving guy out there than Dave. He has a knack for applying real world scenarios to gospel truths. His attention to detail in these latter days second to none. Youth everywhere need to hear the message of resilience. His four resiliency principles are a great way to strengthen the youth for the storm that is raging all around them. Dave does a great job bringing this to light in an uplifting positive manner. We need more Dave Burnells in this world!
In this life, there are givers and there are takers. There are wolves that come to kill the sheep and there are sheepdogs that put themselves between the the flock and the waiting jaws of death.... Dave is one of the good ones. One of the sheep dogs. A protector.
I've known Dave for a decade and I can tell you the man's heart is pure. He is a giver, a protector, a warrior, a man of God, and genuinely a GOOD MAN....
Dave is a man you want on your side when things go south. It's an honor to call him a friend. I'd vouch for his character and sing his praises to anyone who would listen. Thanks for setting the example and leading the way Dave.
It's rare in the age of social media for an individual to be willing to share the intimate details of the challenges they've faced, the emotions and doubts they have wrestled with and the lessons they have learned from those experiences. I was moved by David's genuine discussions of the lessons he's learned throughout his life and especially about how he has emotionally wrestled with what he called a failure in his life and how he's continued to grow and learn from that experience. I think David's message is one of the most important messages for all of us to hear. That any particular traumatic experience or what may seem like a failure in life can be turned to our benefit by seeking direction from our Lord and Savior and continuing to strive and learn. Both his message and his presentation were outstanding!
Enjoyed your talk with the youth. I appreciate you sharing your dive experience and what you learned and took away from it. Powerful example of listening to and following the spirit. The things you have done in your life took courage and did not always come easy for you. You motivate others to go forward in life and do the same. I liked being reminded that our missions change throughout our lives, it’s true. Keep sharing your strength and wisdom.
Dave is one of the most genuine, caring people you'll meet. He's full of love and compassion for those around him, happy to share his wisdom with others, and one of the first to volunteer to help those in need without hesitation.
I moved my business next door to Opsgear over 10 years ago. Over the 6 years we spent as neighbors I had the privilege of getting to know David Burnell. He was there for me through good times and bad. David has given me invaluable council and life changing advise on so many occasions. When facing hardship with my business David encouraged me to let go of my stubbornness, humble myself take advantage of different opportunities. That advise set me on the path that made me the man I am today. I believe that I was placed in David’s path because our Heavenly Father knew that I needed his no nonsense and honest guidance.
For 10 years I have taken every opportunity to learn from David Burnell - live talks, seminars, YouTube videos, podcasts, DVD’s, and David has been my defensive handgun instructor for 6 years. I guess you could say “I’m a huge fan”. People say that you should never meet your hero's because you will be disappointed. This will never be the case with David Burnell. In fact: David Burnell’s example, instruction, and friendship have meant everything to me. I look forward to seeing what David will teach us next.
Always packed with wisdom and humor, Dave’s talks are never disappoint. He is a humble yet forceful teacher that will capture your attention and leave you feeling his genuine love and care. We all need the “velvet hammer” at times to motivate and inspire us to do better. I hope and pray Dave has more opportunity to share his experiences and testimony.
Just finished. Excellent. Enjoyed every twist and turn and wisdom
That was an awesome talk David! I marvel at the beautiful, spiritual human being you’ve morphed to be! I look at that strong silverback and can only think of how proud your papa is of you. Love you to the moon. ❌❤️❌❤️
Great fireside! You have so many awesome experiences! The youth are lucky to have such a stud to look up to!
I’ve been pondering all day about your message last night... seek, hear, do, share... “eat last”. Such great counsel! Thanks again... you knocked it out of the park!
This was absolutely AWESOME! You truly are a Spiritual Warrior! I’m sure there have been times you have wished for an easier life....but you have never been one to be truly happy with easy!!😉😇 You always push a little harder and dig a little deeper. That is why you are the special man that you are. The Lord knows your strength my friend!🇺🇸🙏
David is one of those people you want to be around and be like. I am a better person for knowing him.
Greetings, my name is Daniel. We have never met but I would like to share with you how much of an impact you have had on my life (I won't lie: this message may not be short). I first heard about you and your company OpsGear around 2009 while I was still in High School. It was inspirational how you and your associates did not just "Talk the Talk" but "Walked the Walk" when it came to living out a life of service towards your fellow man. I ate up any and all content your team put out. I was involved in the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps (completing SWCC training) at the time and was active in my local church participating in any and all Missions trips I could in the South Florida area. I have experience in this realm because my family is from the Amazon, Brasil (Parintins) and we would do humanitarian projects with the local tribes throughout my whole childhood. That age is a critical point in a young man's life (14-17ish) where he is looking past his childhood and ahead towards becoming a man. In doing so, a young man will find figures he wishes to emulate. I just want to let you know that you are one of those men in my life. I saw you deploy to Haiti with the other volunteers (2010?) and knew at that moment that this is the kind of man I want to be like. Pray, Train and GO. When the 9.0 Earthquake/Tsunami impacted Japan in 2011, I was encouraged and inspired even further when you simply packed your bags (we'll do it live!) to help where you could. At the age of 18 I became licensed in Unarmed/Armed security work. I continued studying any and everything I could on the subjects of SAR (Urban/Wilderness), emergency medicine, sociology, psychology oh how the list went on. I began my college career that same year, and oh how the learning continued! At the age of 19, a friend asked me if I would like to accompany him on a low profile missions trip to a closed region of Central Asia. Simply put, we went. Upon return, my desire to serve where I can when I can grew tremendously. I participated in multiple Disaster Relief/Recovery deployments with various NGO's across the nation in a variety of austere conditions. Much love was spread and assistance given.
I went on of graduating to become a teacher for a few years where I poured into the students (Elementary-HS) the heart and passion to simply serve when and where they could. I even borrowed from some of your experiences and had the students participate in a Biannual "Simulation": a Disaster Response role play scenario in which the students were inoculated to the stress of these forms of events via acting as relief volunteers attempting to bring help to the fictitious people of "Hacky-sackistan" (where the national past time is, you guessed it, hacky sack tournaments). I currently work as a Security Specialist for a Police Department of a large public university in Upstate SC where my wife and I reside. I apologize for the length of this message. I just wanted to say thank you for everything you have done and continue to do and to let you know how much of an impact you have had on my life. Thank you David. --------Daniel
I have known him for 17 years. He has always been a strong supporter of the men and women who serve; police and military. His contribution was more than just words. He gave financially, with his time, and shared his experience and knowledge. The Urban Warfare Center was a unique facility and David combined it with cutting edge training methodology and technology. He opened it to all types of military and police units, from elite SWAT and military units to police patrol squads and military support units deploying. All this was done to help prepare the individual and the team to accomplish their mission, overcome the negative effects of the stress of combat and deadly force situations, and come home at the end of shift or deployment.
Thank you, David.
It was excellent David and I enjoyed all that you shared. You do have a warriors heart :) Wish my husband could have been on the meeting. He would have loved your photos and hearing you speak of the people. He has a deep love for the people of Thailand and a heartfelt appreciation for that part of the world. You're doing a great thing! I am so glad you are making a personal history of these things for your family and friends, the good and the bad. (and we know you're only sharing a tiny fraction of what you've experienced: successes & the hard stuff) Your family and posterity can be proud. You were inspired and driven to do hard things that others would not choose to do--and you do it with love. There are special blessings for you.
That was FANTASTIC. It was remarkable and moving. Thank you, brother. You have a huge heart. I’m glad I was able to hear what you said.
David is an amazing teacher and friend. He is a man of integrity, compassion, and grit.
As a speaker and instructor he helps you to examine your technique, core values, and beliefs. Then he helps you determine how best to adjust for greatest benefit.
An hour with David Burnell can give you the tools to change your life.
Great Meeting. I learned a lot. Im going to add a few extra items to my kit.
I do keep this in my vehicle as a get home bag so I can get home from a job during an emergency.
Thank you so much! I truly feel more comfortable and confident than I ever have. This training is exactly what I need.
David your influences reaches beyond more than you thought. 😊 You are a good man. 😊Nothing is a coincidence in life. We pray for good things to happen. God hears. He answers in many ways. 😊
Well David………..you are marvelous. Bob and I feel inspired to re work our emergency plans. You are a wonderful teacher. You and Jeff will do a lot of good as you encourage people to prepare.
